Apple recently launched its new iPhone 4, in its usual understated blaze of publicity. With the PR making excited claims that Apple customers finally had more of the features they had been asking for since the last iPhone, and the usual army of Apple fans desperate to be the first to get their hands on one, do all the new features and the new look live up to all the hype?

Whereas you’d be hard pushed to tell a 3G and a 3GS apart, the iPhone 4 has a completely new look. It’s flatter, thinner, and even die-hard 3GS fans would probably admit that it has a much more stylish, high-end look to it. But its looks are just the start, and the appearance of an extra camera on the front, and an LED flash for the main camera, give you an idea of the extra features that have been crammed into this smaller, better-looking iPhone.

Switch the iPhone 4 on and you can’t help but notice the impressive new screen. Thanks to twice as many pixels as before, icons, photos, email text and webpages appear much clearer. The improvement in the display isn’t just limited to still images either. High resolution videos look much better, and the screen easily copes with bright sunlight and being viewed form different angles.

One of the criticisms of previous iPhones, has always been the camera. While fans have admired the look and functionality of the 3G and 3GS, many felt let down by a 3 megapixel camera and no flash. The iPhone 4 fixes that, and while the megapixels have only gone up to 5, the advancements in the software and light sensing technology mean that photos and video on the new iPhone look as good as those from some of the best camera phones on the market. The addition of a second camera for Apple’s ‘Facetime video calling, and a flash to help in low-light conditions, help to boost the iPhone 4’s camera credentials.

You also get a new Operating System with the iPhone 4, iOS4, which has some impressive new features compared to the old 3GS operating system. For a start, the capacity of your homescreens is increased with the addition of folders for all the similar icons you want to keep together. But probably the biggest attraction of iOS4 is the true multitasking it offers. It takes a bit to get used to, but once you do, you can now keep several apps open at the same time, and quickly and easily switch between them.

The media might have been quick to point out some of the initial flaws with the new iPhone 4, but this shouldn’t be allowed to overshadow the impressive improvements Apple have made to how their new iPhone looks and functions. New iPhone users will love the iPhone 4, and the only frustration for those who have a 3GS might be the length of time they have to wait before they can upgrade.

Motorola Milestone XT720 makes its debut in the market following the lackluster performance of the Milestone handset in the UK when compared to the passionate reception in the US for its twin product, the Droid. The unit currently entering the market is essentially Milestone 2 and the company has learned from the dissatisfaction voiced about the original device and addressed all of those issues. The Motorola XT720 has eliminated the keyboard, upgraded the Motoblur functionality, upgraded to an 8-megapixel camera and enhanced the device with a 720MHz processor.

Motorola has also redesigned the device so it has the appearance of a digital camera rather than a traditional cell phone. Reviews of the new design are mixed. Some users appreciate the new design, others are unimpressed. The eight megapixel camera is positioned on the back of the phone, and the quality produces images better than most camera phones. Similar to an Android phone, the menu key, back button, home and search buttons are all placed below the screen. Some users contend the phone has a very masculine design, and that it will appeal more to men and women.

The Motorola XT720 is 60.9 x 115.95 x 10.9mm and weighs in at 160 grams. It utilizes the proven-solid Android 2 operating system. While it does not have the muscle of the more powerful processor found in both the HTC Desire and the Google Nexus, Motorola has done its best to minimize lag times and load times by optimizing the handset. It also boasts a 480 X 854 resolution 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen. The Motorola Milestone XT720 also has 512MB of built in memory with the option to use a 8GB microSD card.

The provided 1390 mAh battery is said to provide as much as 4.5 hours talk time and as many as a whopping 13 days of standby time. Experienced users know that even a powerful battery such as this will be quickly drained by the power-draining Android operating system. A regular charge each night should provide you with all the power you need throughout the day, however. An optional Multimedia Station is also available. The Multimedia Station allows you to conveniently charge your phone while seated at a desk, and it supports WMA, MPEG4, MP3, AMR, AAC, and ACC files. The Motorola XT720 also includes a 3.5mm audio socket and an FM radio.

Some people will still be wondering if the Motorola Milestone XT720 is worth purchasing. The answer depends on the size of your budget. The Motorola XT720 does not offer the same features and design as the Google Nexus One or the HTC Desire, which many tech-savvy users might prefer. However, if you have more concern about your budget, the Motorola Milestone XT720 is an appropriate and affordably priced alternative to more expensive choices.

Digital cameras have advanced a great deal over the last few years and there are many available at reasonable prices for the amateur photographer. Nevertheless, if you enjoy taking pet portrait photos, which camera is the right choice?

First off, don’t be too concerned with the number of pixels, unless you want to output your images in poster form. They don’t improve the quality of the picture, they just allow you to print larger images. The feature that improves any camera is the lens, a decent lens will do more for the quality of an image than anything else. And all the extras? It’s all there to make life easier. With a budget of around £ 700, you can’t go far wrong with the Nikon D90 (article written June 2010). It offers 12 megapixels and an ISO range of 100 – 3200, which means you can take shots in quite low light without a flash or the image going grainy. For the photographer keen on pets or animals, it’s ability to take 4.5 frames a second is ideal for capturing fleeting moments.

Nevertheless, here are some suggestions to help you get the best pet portraits

Be patient. If there is somewhere were they prefer to play, leave the camera somewhere nearby, it can then be easily grabbed when the moment arises. Plus, make sure you have enough film or memory left in the camera and that the batteries aren’t likely to die as soon as you point the camera!

Composition. If your pet is dark, avoid dingy backgrounds, and similarly lighter coloured pets don’t show up well against light backgrounds and avoid messy or complicated backgrounds

Lighting. If you take the picture indoors, try to do it in bright natural light. Early in the morning or evening and overcast days are best, the soft light will compliment your portrait.

Interesting angles. Try taking your photos at ‘pet level’ or from an unusual angle. Use a toy to distract your pet and get them to look in the right direction.

HDMI Wall Plate: The No-Cable Clutter Solution To HDTV Viewing

With HDTV gaining popularity, there are many device that connect to it to deliver the best pictures. But what that is meaning for a regular household is just too much clutter around the HD screen. You can reduce all that with HDMI Wall Plate.

The greatest benefit of this wall plate is that it can hide all the cables from the sight inside the wall. If you need to extend the cable to say 40m to 50m, you need not have that sticking out in the open. Have most of the cable hidden from naked eye behind the walls. The cable will terminate on the wall plate. From there you have a short cable extended to your HDTV, a neat and slick solution.

What this also means is that you can have your gaming console wherever, and your digital TV tuner in any room. Through the walls just connect them to the HDTV screen in your living room and enjoy the viewing there. In fact, you can actually have all these in your basement and just stream the video on your screen. That would be just perfect.

You also need now worry that these plates will stick out in your house as sore thumbs, no. They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns to blend in with your wall, regardless of what color they have.

You will find that these units come in two flavours: dual port and single port. Now you may think that you can able to work with the second port. That is true today, but in future you never know when you may get the second HDTV source. At that time you would have to purchase another wall plate. Instead get a dual port one today and you have one spare for later.

The next thing to note is handling and installation. These are no different from other wall plates you may have for your electrical connections in your home. Even these are made from sturdy plastic and come with matching plastic screws. Just take care of handling the plates and installation process with care to avoid breaking the device.

In short HDMI wall plate is a great way to ensure that your house is neat and free of cables lying outside. Besides with strategically placed HDTV sources and these plates, you can make your living room free of everything but the HDTV screen to enjoy the perfect HD experience. Everything else can be moved to some other room and the cable connectors hidden behind the wall.

Windows Movie Maker has helped a lot of people and made it easier for them to produce, edit and present video clips using their computer.

If this program was never developed, it might be impossible for a lot of people to create an effective and proper file. Since this program is an excellent one and offers a tremendous value, problems can also occur.

With the many problems you might end up facing with, there will be instances that problems in the importation of files will arise.

If you are having issues in terms of importing files, here is a overview that may provide the much needed solution to the scenario.

Digital Rights Management Error Messages

This message is just informing you that you are advancing beyond proper limits of a copyrighted item and there is a fail-secure mechanism in place to make sure that you can not access it in a way the owner of the copyright prohibits.

How is this Usually Done?

When Windows Movie Maker is faced with DRM codes, importing of files with such codes will not allow you to do so.

Windows Movie Maker Freezes or Stops Responding

Usually, this problem is mainly the result of incompatible video filters although it is also possible that may have imported a file that is not supported by the Windows Movie Maker system. (Although, there are very few types of files that are incompatible with Windows Movie Maker.)

If video filters are what you are suffering from, there might be a way to properly deal with the issue.

Via the tools menu, look into the settings of your video filter.

There are also some instances wherein restarting the computer could actually eliminate these Windows Movie Maker problems so why not try to do it as well?

Importing Audio Files Not Supported By Windows Movie Maker

There are free converters and there are also converters that you will need to buy. Without minding the cost of the converter, it can be effectively used to convert the file format to something that is compatible within the Windows Movie Maker system.

Consider this as one of the easiest problem of Windows Movie Maker to fix.

Web Camera Issues

Initially, you would not import files directly to the Windows Movie Maker program. On the contrary, you would import them to the hard drive of the computer and then transfer them to Windows Movie Maker.

Analogue Files

As such, the analogue source must be converted to a digital file and then move it to the Windows Movie Maker program.

It may seem like a number of extra steps but it is the only way to repair such problems.

I recently visited Spain (Moraira holiday) and was able to make international calls a lot cheaper than I previously have been able to. The first thing you need to check is that your phone is GSM compatible and is also unlocked. What this means is that you can use any type of SIM card you want and still access the local phone network. If you have a phone with a camera you can take Spanish villa images also.

Once you have determined if your phone uses GSM then you will have a few options to choose from. The first is to get yourself an international SIM card from STA. This premium SIM card will cost you $9 but also comes with $10 worth of prepaid call credit. Additionally your friends at home can call you for free whilst you are away. This is really handy if people need to reach you, as you don’t want to be responsible for them having a massive phone bill at the end of the month. Have the card delivered to your house before you set off and avoid any hassle of picking one up whilst on the go.

Optical Cables – Developing For The Past Decades
Optical cables, also known as TOSLINK, utilizes optical fibers for consumer audio equipment these days. Digital optical audio ports in various audio setups nowadays and in some electronics use these cables to link audio signals to each other. Because of their very speedy capabilities, they can stream very high quality audio in different formats, enabling consumers to enjoy exquisite aural experience.
S/PDIF standards have become the general standard for audio streaming. Gaming consoles and high definition multimedia players nowadays employ such sockets to enable high definition audio streams. Typically, audio signals go through decoders which then decodes these signals according to their formats. Because of this, high quality audio can be paired up with high definition videos and movies. Its speed has also greatly improved over the past years, now able to transmit signals even faster.

As it was first released to the public in 1983, optical cables only carried speeds of up to 3.1 Mbit/second. Nowadays, because of huge improvements, they are able to transmit signals of up to 125 Mbit/second through these fiber optic cables.

Home theater setups typically use these digital optical audio cables. They may run from the source to the decoder, which then decodes the signals and projects it to the speakers. Such cables were originally limited to only 20-bits at 48KHz. Today, they are developed to support every modern audio format. Dolby Digital and DTS formats are some that they are able to support.

A lot of manufacturers make these optical cables. Covered with resin and then covered with plastic jackets to make them stronger, these layers are not interferences to the fiber optic cable themselves; they merely protect the signals. Most of the time, glass or plastic fibers are manufactured to be thin and transparent, which then carries light. By decoding this light, audio can then be heard through speakers. Ends of these cables have a square-like connector which goes into these sockets.

Computers today also utilize this interface in audio, as some audio cards today support 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setups. Home theaters are now possible to make, and is quite easy to setup, as well. External audio processors which can be easily hooked up to laptops and desktops can also be used, to easily upgrade your computer’s capability to transmit high fidelity audio.

Good cables are always great investments. With such digital audio cables, you get to enjoy your movies and music in all their glory.

- What is Watch T V all about?
- Is it a rip-off?
- Is it well worth buying?
- Can I get a bonus for buying this product? (and what exactly is a bonus?)
- Can I get my money back if it turns out I really don’t want it afterall

This is high and suggests the product is definitely worth buying.

What are the bonuses available? (and just what is a bonus?)

Certain sites have taken to offering what’s called a ‘purchase bonus’. It’s a bit like a free softdrink when you get a hamburger – a thankyou your purchasing by means of their link. In the case of Watch T V,there’s a bonus being offered that is an e-book describing ways to get access to hundreds of hidden bonuses – all you need is a clever (and secret) Google search to find them.(See link at the end of the article)

As news of the iPad shutting down whenever it gets too hot still filtering its way around the internet, it has now been suggested that countries in Asia are too humid for iPhones. The handsets, which aren’t particularly happy in hot conditions anyway, are said to not be suitable for any country with a humidity above 95%.

The problem has surfaced because of the increasing number of iPhone owners in Asia who have had their warranties voided as a result of apparent water damage, even in cases where the owners insist there has been none. Further investigations have suggested that the liquid indicators found on iPhones were affected by particularly high humidity.

This problem doesn’t seem to be specific to Asian counties either, as a woman in the USA has filed a similar claim against the gadgets‘ creator; Apple. The woman claims her iPhone’s liquid indicator had been affected by humidity levels, voiding her warranty.

Consumers in Asian countries are understandably angry about the situation, suggestion that Apple shouldn’t be selling the iPhone in Asian countries if it can’t handle the humidity. This seems like a reasonable argument and one that Apple have yet to give a proper answer to.

The news of the problem with the iPhone comes just after the story of a man in China who was killed after his Nokia handset exploded during a call. The news is represents the first time a phone has exploded whilst not being on charge at the time. The issue brings up some concerns about manufacturing process in China, as well as how hot weather can affect mobile phones.

So if you have relatives in particularly hot countries and you’re trying to find Christmas gifts or Birthday presents, you might be well advised to avoid iPads and iPhones until they work out the problem.
